So at the bottom, we have Leeds and Taunton trying to avoid the drop. I know they could drag DMP, Esher or even Chinnor into the mix, but Both have matches against: Darlington MP, Chinnor, Moseley, Bishop's Stortford, Rosslyn Park and Rams. Leaving Sat 11-Feb-2023 Cinderford v Taunton Sat 25-Feb-2023 Taunton v Hull Sat 01-Apr-2023 Cambridge v Leeds Tykes Sat 15-Apr-2023 Leeds Tykes v Plymouth Albion and the decider Sat 22-Apr-2023 Taunton v Leeds Tykes I think that favours Taunton, but I am terrible at predictions. If Leeds do go down, that could mean long journeys for Chester.

Chester is further South West, so I would guess it is in line for the level transfer. I know it is not called that any more: but it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, lays duck eggs and tastes good with plumb sauce.

Plus Sedge look favourites to go up - and I thought it was 3 down from Nat1 to accommodate the 3 winners from NAT2 leagues or are we still guessing because of the continuing Wasps/Worcester debacle

It is only two down, as there is apparently no relegation from the Championship - which will expand like an elasticated waistband after a good rugby club lunch.

Mea culpa. Still even more room for lots of clubs - 3 up from National 1 perhaps? (but no Cup) However would RFU wallet stretch that far?

As I understand it, clubs at the top end of N1 have been given clear guidance that there's one promotion spot available this summer, regardless of other factors involving Ealing, Worcester, Wasps. Haven't they? Lots of other threads discussing all the above - this one's about relegation from N1, isn't it?

So how will they decide which 2 go up from Nat 2. It was clearly stated that 3 would be relegated from Nat 1 earlier in the season to reflect the 3 feeder leagues.
will there be a mini league of 3 play off matched to establish the top 2, or take the top 2 with the best records. Chester were the ones reprieved from Level transfer last season.
Will Tykes continue if they get relegated? |

All 3 NAT2 winners go up - 2 down from Nat 1 and one promoted. No relegation from Championship so Nat 1 will still operate with 14.
Not sure how Chester escape again if Leeds go down The other issue is that if Barnstaple got relegated from Nat2W AND Leeds got relegated then 2 would be required for the West - my guess Chester and Worthing?

There could be wider changes. The Nat 2 boundaries will be redrawn each season - to avoid the trading over level transfer. It could depend on who comes up from Regional 1. Too complicated at the moment for me!

My understanding was there is then relegation from the Championship, and accordingly three down from N1? This may have changed again but I think 12-14 depending on Wasps/Worcester.

Esher are massively in it given their loss to Taunton.
Their run in is home heavy but full of big hitters. How many of those home matches are bankers...and travelling to Hull is tough Sale H Cinderford A Cambridge H Chinnor H Hull A Bishops H DMP A Rams H Taunton have both Hull and Leeds at home. That last game will be pivotal.

Interesting that none of the match reports on our game at Taunton refer to losing both hookers to injury before half-time. Losing our 7 who has practiced line-outs left us unable to kick to touch in the second half. Taunton were better on the day but those injuries hampered us.
We know we have a tough run-in but the wins achieve recently give us a cushion.

Not even the one on the Esher website! (And did Jack Rouse really play full-back?)

Never believe the ones on our website! The writers are rarely at the game and, no, Jack Rouse didn't play full-back!! Journalism doesn't need to be truthful, as we all know!
