I saw that Rugby League is looking to ditch the "graded" promotion/relegation criteria that they just introduced a couple years ago. This is the same system that they want to introduce in the Prem. Overwhelmingly it is hated by League fans, and a recent consultative poll had the following results:
Yes, with the winner of the Championship Grand Final being promoted and the bottom Super League club being relegated – 49.59% Yes, but subject to a play-off between the bottom side in Super League and the winner of the Championship Grand Final – 15.17% Yes, but with the winner of the Championship Grand Final having to satisfy minimum standards to enter Super League – 20.71% No, the RFL should stick with the gradings system to determine which clubs should be in Super League – 14.53% |

The concept of Promotion/Relegation "1 up, 1 down" is so simple, why do codes feel the need to complicate it with criterias? I remember it led to that farce where even if London avoided finishing bottom, they would have still been relegated because they didn't meet the fan engagement criteria (despite the fact they have always been an outpost away from the rl heartlands).
