Okay I would love it, being 63 then. But is 2031 too soon? Does seem a pattern Europe hosting every other. Would like 2031 in Italy, over due. A joint Ireland/Scotland?

If you take the SNP line a generation is about 5 years so 2031 would be no bad thing.

As transport was mentioned re USA bid, I would point out that it is a nightmare getting out to the Olympic Stadium in Rome - no rail link, only trams - huge queues.

Saying that assuming Italy are interested in hosting they have a number of large Soccer stadiums which presumably they could use.
