Never tried it myself but I'm sure someone will.

The Newcastle Falcons acquisition adds another sport to the vast array of Red Bull sponsored sports, including:

"Red Bull has a vast sponsorship portfolio that extends far beyond Formula 1. They are known for their extensive involvement in a wide range of sports, often with a focus on extreme and action sports, but also in more traditional areas.

Here's a breakdown of some of the sports Red Bull sponsors:
Motorsports (beyond F1):
 * MotoGP: They sponsor factory teams like Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, as well as various riders.
 * Rally/Rallycross: They're involved in events like the Dakar Rally and sponsor teams in rallycross.
 * DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters): They sponsor teams in this touring car series.
 * Australian Supercars Championship: They have a presence in this popular Australian racing series.
 * Drifting
 * Motorbike Supermoto
 * Superbike

Team Sports (where they often own teams):
 * Football (Soccer): They own several football clubs, including:
   * RB Leipzig (Germany)
   * FC Red Bull Salzburg (Austria)
   * New York Red Bulls (USA)
   * Red Bull Bragantino (Brazil)
 * Ice Hockey: They own ice hockey teams like EHC Red Bull München (Germany) and EC Red Bull Salzburg (Austria).
 * Esports: They sponsor numerous esports teams and events across various games like Dota 2.

Extreme & Action Sports:
 * Cliff Diving: They host the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.
 * BMX: They sponsor many BMX athletes and events.
 * Mountain Biking: They're heavily involved in downhill and free-ride mountain biking, including events like Red Bull Rampage.
 * Skiing/Freeskiing: They sponsor athletes and events in various skiing disciplines.
 * Snowboarding: Similar to skiing, they have a strong presence in snowboarding.
 * Skateboarding: They sponsor skateboarders and events.
 * Surfing: They have a Red Bull Surfing Team.
 * Kitesurfing
 * Wakeboarding
 * High Diving
 * Kayaking
 * Paragliding
 * Skydiving/Wingsuit Flying
 * Aerobatic Flying (e.g., Red Bull Air Race)
 * BASE Jumping

Other Sports and Events:
 * Cycling: They've recently expanded their involvement in road cycling, acquiring a majority share in the Bora-Hansgrohe cycling team.
 * Rugby Union
 * Cricket
 * Athletics
 * Dance (e.g., Red Bull BC One - breakdancing)
 * Soapbox Racing (Red Bull Soapbox Race)
 * Flugtag (homemade flying machines competition)

Red Bull's strategy involves not just sponsorship but also owning teams and creating their own events, which serves as a powerful marketing tool for their brand.

Jack Nowell wouldn't be a surprise. He's been a Red Bull "athlete" for ages.

Does his scrum cap still have their branding?

I've never understood how he gets away with that. We've seen players find for wearing a gumshield manufactured by a company which isn't on the official.supplier list, yet he unilaterally advertises a product which isn't an official sponsor of any competition.

Presumably that’s why it was OK, as he wasn’t stepping on the toes of any “official supplier”, or is there an official “energy drink supplier “?
In any event, surely Jack is too much of a warm weather creature to move to Newcastle? (Speaking as a Cornishman who lived in the North East for three years)

Damian Willemse (Springboks & Stormers) is also a Red Bull sports ambassador

Has this been seen anywhere official, such as on a Red Bull or Falcons website.
Or a reputable news source.
I do not trust most of the sites saying it is understood ...

It's not been confirmed. Mark Smith has pulled a few people up on Twitter for posting about it.

It depends what you mean by "this" Cq...

a) the two parties have been talking to each other

or

b) a deal's been done

I've not seen any denials about a), which means it's inevitable media will cover as a story even though there's no official confirmation about having reached stage b).

I don't have any knowledge of this case, but often phrases like "it is believed" or "it is understood" indicate the journalist has been told something by a well-placed source, possibly even an official source, but advised they are being told this off the record, so can't attribute it to a named person or official spokesperson.

The Guardian reported last Friday that a deal had been agreed... and yes, I realise that in saying that I am opening up a rabbit-hole of a debate about whether the Guardian is a "reputable news source" - IMHO it is...

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/jun/13/red-bull-agree-deal-to-buy-newcastle-falcons-and-keep-premiership-club-afloat" rel="nofollow - Red Bull agree deal to buy Newcastle Falcons and keep Premiership club afloat

Quote
Red Bull has agreed a deal to buy Newcastle Falcons which includes a commitment to keep the club in the city and will ensure the Premiership remains a 10-team competition next season.

Newcastle have been for sale for over a year, with owner Semore Kurdi no longer willing to fund multimillion-pound annual losses, leading to fears they could become the fourth Premiership club to go bust in the last two years after Wasps, Worcester and London Irish.

Such has been the concern for Newcastle’s future that the other Premiership clubs agreed in principle to provide a £4m loan to enable them to take part in the competition next season, with a nine-team top-flight not thought to be commercially viable.

Red Bull is understood to have reach an agreement to take over the cash-strapped club however, and take on their £39m debts. These include £14.5m in unpaid treasury loans taken out during the Covid-19 pandemic.

During negotiations with the Austrian energy drinks company the prospect of moving the club to the 26,000-capacity Darlington Arena 40 miles away was discussed, but the Guardian has been told that Red Bull’s takeover plan involves Newcastle staying at Kingston Park, which has been their home for the past 35 years.

Red Bull’s decision to stay in Newcastle is likely to be popular with the club’s longsuffering fans, who did not see them win a single match last season and only two this as Steve Diamond’s side finished bottom of the Premiership on both occasions. The company’s vision for the club is understood to be based on using their brands and marketing expertise to gain support from younger people in the city, with several campaigns planned to appeal to Newcastle’s student population.

Given the company’s footballing connections Red Bull is also expected to seek a close working relationship with Newcastle United. The club’s outgoing sporting director Paul Mitchell previously worked at RB Leipzig.

Newcastle will be Red Bull’s first rugby purchase, but the club aligns with it’s purchase model of snapping up underperforming sports teams with a business plan of transforming them into global brands. The company paid Ford just $1 to buy the failing Formula One team, Jaguar Racing, in 2004 and have successfully transformed them into giants of the sport, with Red Bull Racing winning eight world drivers’ championships and six constructors’ titles in the last 15 years.

In addition to football clubs, RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and the New York Red Bulls, they also own 9.9% of Leeds United and are heavily involved in motor sport and winter sports.

Attracting a new owner such as Red Bull is also a coup for Premiership Rugby, who are seeing much-needed signs of growth for the sport. Viewing figures for Premiership matches on TNT Sport are up 10% on last season before Saturday’s final between Bath and Leicester, with the increase 47% when the game directly follows a Premier League match.

In another significant boost TNT Sport last month agreed a new five-year deal giving it exclusive live rights for every Premiership match until 2031.

Red Bull and Newcastle declined to comment on the deal.

I am also aware that there are many steps between, heads of agreement and final signature.
I believe "Many a slip" is the correct phrase, or was that a Radio 4 quiz show.
