Anyone who has listened to BBC CWR radio's rugby commentaries will have heard our John.
His calm voice and exceptionally even-handed approach to his craft are a measure of the man.
John broadcast on his beloved Cov for well over fifty years, and was involved with the club in various capacities for a lot longer (long before I started visiting Coundon Road in 1966) and has seen much success... and turmoil.
John's retirement, while expected and richly deserved, still comes as a shock to me.
He will be very, very hard to replace.

Happy retirement JB (and Ann!).

A proper club and rugby man.  They are a dying breed

What an innings by John B. People of his standing in the game can't be replaced, I would argue, as their standing dates from another era that simply doesn't exist today. But hopefully there might be recent entrants to the arena who might eventually get somewhere close to matching him...

I hope he is suitably celebrated as he picks up the mic for the last time this weekend...

Many thanks everyone for all your kind comments and thoughts.
Saturday was quite a day both from a club & BBC CWR point of view. Smile
