8am now in Liverpool and Big Eddie will be boarding the First Class carriage to Euston with the
Caldy heavyweights. A light liquid breakfast no doubt because they will receive First Class
service at the Ripley Bar with a nice 3 course lunch and the best President in National One
when you need a hip replacement. More later - I hope others will join this thread for THE match of the season.

Just a bit more info for Big Eddie and the Caldy heavyweights - THE First Class Bars are the (Andy) Ripley
Bar and the (Alexander) Obelenski Bar - both these bars are for First Class Customers like your party of VIP guests. The Oliver Read Bar is located outside the clubhouse for more sporty soles who prefer to mingle with A list celebrities from the Hollywood brigade - how splendid it would be if we could read a twitter post of Gordon Ramsey being converted to pot noodles - huge fun.

Many apologies Park Ranger ........we boarded the 8.47 out of Lime Street and settled in to enjoy the 1st Class hospitality. I didn't pick up your post until just now (it took me that long to recover).

Normally we don't open the fizz until 11 a.m. but we had to start early 10 a.m. as the train arrived at Euston at 11 a.m.

I am this season's sommelier and it is my job to provide the drinks on away trips. I have it down to a fixed routine:

If 9 of us are travelling - 3 bottles of fizz, one bottle of gin and 12 cans of fever tree tonic
If 6 of us are travelling - 3 bottles of fizz, one bottle of gin and 12 cans of fever tree tonic
If 4 of us are travelling - 3 bottles of fizz, one bottle of gin and 12 cans of fever tree tonic

There were 6 of us on Saturday and I thought we coped rather well as one of us didn't touch a drop until we arrived at the Rock. We topped up with a few pints of Fullers Pride from the Ripley Bar at around 12.15 and were set for a wonderful day of sport and merriment. The weather was kind and we all enjoyed ourselves and I particularly enjoyed Nick and Sian Goddard's company during lunch.

Sorry I didn't pick up on this thread until now..........could have had even more fun

I have sampled the G&T Big Eddie style ,it is well known for being extremely tight with the tonic ,he never brings more than 4 small cans of tonic per bottle of Gin.

Yes pen 15 you are correct and I have to apologise to my fellow travellers for that. As you will remember I generally stick to the fizz myself and I am often oblivious to how heavy handed I am with the gin.....however I have never been known to swig the gin from the bottle.......

I believe that locals after the RP game with Caldy were complaining about missing Hub caps.

Hub caps? How old are the cars near you? Alloy wheels are the thing now and have been for about 10 years!

Big Eddie, I see Merseyside was glammed up to the nines for ladies day today, shows you can scrub up well, even the men were in their best bib and tucker.
