Am I correct in understanding that the fixture don’t commence until October.
When will fixtures be announced, now we know which teams are in the league?

Yes, Weekend of Sat Oct 4th has been confirmed. Fixture list wasn't released until July 22 last year, there is an unconfirmed rumour that this year it will be July 19.

Anyone have any insight as to why the season is starting so late?

To avoid clashing with the women 's World Cup would be my guess

I believe so - but totally irrelevant (IMO of course).
I couldn't see football doing similar.

I believe the Prem is starting late, as four of the venues are in use.
I understand they were thinking there might be a cup - until there wasn't.
So we start late too.

Fun here, isn't it.

I've booked you on a Diversity & Inclusion course in the Cyrille Regis Room next Tuesday, 11am.

I think Reform UK has cancelled the course.

The cup was going to be played before the league season. Total mess.

If a pattern of late emerges, play 5, rest, play 5.
Sadly Nov 8th will be a rest weekend.

I find it assuring when a match is played Armistice weekend.

I was totally expecting that.

Just for info, I have no issue with women's rugby, or women's football, and have watched both, live.
I just don't see why it should delay the start of the Championship season.

Reform. LOL

It’ll also give players involved in summer tours a chance to rest & recover before another treadmill commences. No bad thing imho.

I saw him playing for Hayes at the age of 18. He was quite good!

Are there many players in the Champ who will be representing their countries in Summer internationals ?

Indeed Kimbo. He was quite good at Hayes but became a brilliant top-level player and even more than that a very decent human being.

Was he not a footballer, rather than a rugby player?

There’s one at Nottingham for sure- Jack Stapley is currently playing for the UAE in a summer tournament. I imagine there’s probably other such tournaments that other Champ players are taking part in

Rugby footballers, perhaps.

If the Woman's world cup is such a big thing why is it only one league, The Champ, starting in October when every other leagues in the Country start on 4th September? effectively 99% of the clubs and their teams will not be watching.

It’s to allow The Franchise additional time to sign players

I don't get why the league starts so late. Just start first Saturday in September and finish end of April. Maybe GarethBlues has hit the nail.

It is probably punishment as the cup was meant to take place then!

Only slightly good thing is the crowds at Blues are lower in September, but I much rather us play then.

I would also suspect it’s something to do with the Cartel not wanting to start the season without the 15 Lions players being available as they will not be back from the tour until the first week in August. These players need the mandatory down time.

“Franchise” being bandied about a lot.

Someone please explain to me who is the Fanchisee, and who is the Franchisor?

You might want to consider how a franchise actually works…ie McDonalds or Subway for example.

Or are you thinking of American Sports Franchises, in which there’s an annual draft with the worst clubs getting first pick of the year’s new players.

Either way, there’s absolutely nothing like either case going on here.

I wonder if many of the clubs will have more preseason games to fill the gap?

Unfortunately, whether the term is strictly accurate or not, RFU and The League once known as the Premiership iership management have frequently referred to “franchises “ when referring to the clubs which went bust.
And of course it reflects the system in some US sports, which rugby union seemingly wants to emulate.

Yes, this. When a league expands, teams are just added, rather than being deservedly awarded their place because of their achievement on the field.

I have not been on the ale; every time I type “The League once known as the The League once known as the Premiership iership iership management “ I get the unintelligible nonsense above; when I try to delete it , it just reappears when I “update”.
