This coming Saturday's showpiece, but who will be contesting it?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/54598315" rel="nofollow - Wasps: Three more positive Covid-19 tests puts Premiership final appearance in doubt

The two best teams in England, or the two best teams in Europe?

Decision due this coming Wednesday.

Wasps have not been allowed to train since last Wednesday and are still not allowed to train-not great prep before they take on Exeter. I can only imagine Bristol have been on the lash since last Friday's European victory so they will not be in great shape. For once I agree with Stuart Barnes-just give it to the team that finished top of the league and have been the best team all season. No crowd at Twickenham on Saturday so no real loss if game does not happen

That would be fair, in fact go a step further - bin the play-offs and give it to the team that wins the league full stop

The Bears could lend the Wasps players and the final could be Chiefs v Waears. They will want the TV money so I hope the game goes ahead.

Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

I suspect that the Playoffs are a draw for the TV revenue (and I used to work in the BT purchasing department, I will say no more).

Of the various realistic options I've seen mentioned, if Wasps can't play...
  • Exeter play Bristol for Prem title
  • Final cancelled, no game, Exeter crowned champions
  • Final cancelled, Exeter crowned champions, Exeter play Bristol in one-off 'Gallagher European Shield' game
The last is the one that I think is probably best all-round.

Option 4:

They play a testimonial match for the remaining Exeter players who were involved in Exeters 2010 Championship Playoff win over Bristol. We can call it the "Proof that Promotion/Relegation Works Gareth Steenson Testimonial Special."

If the match is half as good as the 2017 final between the same clubs, then we'll be in for an excellent match. I took my dad, who was visiting from the US to watch the match and we had a grand time. He now follows the MLR.
