Here are my guestimations / hopes

Hartpury 5 vs 1 Cornish Pirates - Home win for Pury Cornish not quite on the money

Ealing Trailfinders 2 vs 5 Jersey Reds Controversial call I know

Doncaster Knights 5 vs 1 Caldy Home win on a quality pitch

Nottingham 5 vs 1 Coventry proper guess this one

Bedford 5 vs 2 Ampthill Big crowds roar the blues to a win but Ampts to keep them honest

Richmond 5 vs 0 London Scottish just as easy the other way round and Home advantage Wink

Pury 4-0 Pirates At home with a few lads from the prem Pury should take this one
Ealing 2-2 Jersey No pressure Ealing you need five points here but this should be a proper rugby contest and any points for Jersey will be a great result - wish I could be there.
Donny 5-1 Caldy Banker home win but Caldy fight for a point
Archers 4-1 Cov Could go either way two well matched teams
Blues 3-3 Amps Should be a brilliant contest in front of a great horde
Mond 1-4 McQuins Could go either way but a handful of points in it.

Hoping you all have a great festive season and safe journey if you are travelling.

Hartpury 4 - 1 C Pirates … Given up trying to second guess The Pirates this season. You really don’t know from 1 week to the next, so will go with home win.
Ealing 4 - 1 Jersey … Both unbeaten, something has to give. For the prediction league I am going for a tight home win. However, Jersey are totally up for this game and if they are to win it will be from out wide. It will be tense for sure and will be won or lost on fine margins.
Doncaster 5 - 0 Caldy … As much as I think that Caldy have been a breath of fresh air for the league, Donny are notoriously difficult to beat at home.
Nottingham 4 - 1 Coventry … This should be a very tight game and could go either way, but I think that Nottingham will nick it.
Bedford 1 - 5 Ampthill … If Bedford play like they did last week up front, then at this level they will get a similar result. However, it is due to be warmer, so the Bedford backs will be happier. Ampthill to win in front of a bumper crowd in a high scoring game.
Richmond 5 - 0 LS … A ground sharing derby, but Mond are better than their league position suggests and this should be a regulation home win.

hartpury  4  1 pirates - I'm down on Pirates away from home this year, and Hartpury have seemed to be gaining strength as the year goes on.
ealing      5 1 jersey - I write this on the basis of several injured players coming back for Ealing and making the difference.
doncaster  5 0 caldy - Time to crown the King in the North, and I think that will go to the full-time professionals.
nottingham  4 1 coventry - Nottingham to grind out a win at Lady Bay.
bedford       1  4 ampthill - Going with historic Ampthill dominance in the Battle of Bedfordshire.
richmond     5  1 scottish - Landlords to come out on top, sport mirroring life.

Hartpury 1-4 Pirates. Not sure if students go home for Christmas. Assuming some do therefore giving the Pirates a narrow win away from home.
Ealing 5-0 Jersey. I will keep forecasting a 5-0 win for all Ealing games.
Doncaster 5-0 Caldy. A longish trip for Caldy to come away with nothing. At least they can try the pie.
Nottingham 4-1 Coventry. Coventry’s away form is a fraction of their home form. Strange.
Bedford 2-5 Ampthill. Ampthill’s forwards to score more tries than the Bedford backs. It could come down to who kicks the most conversions. Probably bigger attendance here than rest of the games put together.
Richmond 4-0 London Scottish. But it could be the other way round. Or a draw.

The Jersey side to take on Ealing tomorrow. This is as strong as we can get. Scott Van Breda is one of the top Full Backs at this level and he doesn’t even make the bench!!
If Ealing win, then good luck to them!

Merry Christmas one and all. Enjoy the festive fun and the games on Boxing Day. For those watching this one, hopefully it will live up to the expectations of the unbeaten top two playing each other.

May all your dreams have odd shaped balls!

Backs (15-9)
Brendan Owen; Ben Woollett, Alex McHenry, Jordan Holgate, Tomi Lewis; Russell Bennett, James Mitchell.
Forwards (1-8)
Sam Grahamslaw, Eoghan Clarke, Steve Longwell, Sean O’Connor, Macauley Cook, James Dun, Lewis Wynne (capt), Max Argyle.

Replacements (16-23)
TJ Harris, Greg McGrath, Adam Nicol, Hamish Bain, Tim Grey; James Elliott, Charlie Powell, Will Brown.

Very strong side from Ealing, with an incredible bench. I suspect it will be around the 60 minute mark that Ealing pull away as the bench strength tells.

Hartpury 4 v 1 Cornish Pirates
Ealing 2 v 5 Jersey
Doncaster 5 v 1 Caldy
Nottingham 5 v 2 Coventry
Bedford 1 v 4 Ampthill
Richmond 4 v 1 London Scottish

Some fantastic games this weekend. Ealing v Jersey will be my Christmas Eve viewing that’s for sure. Ealing are favourites but just got a feeling in me water….. Jersey are going to do something special.

You must be a mind reader mate because I thought the Jersey bench is so ridiculously strong they would win it in the last quarter. I hope both teams play to the best of their ability and discipline is maintained so that the referee can keep his cards in his pocket.

Tight game overall, errors tally probably costing Pirates in the end. Pury 3 tries to 1 opting for the corner for most of the evening when points from the boot seemed on offer. 3 pens giving the visitors the LBP in difficult second half conditions. Lots of Pirates made the trip north, safe journey home.

Admire your confidence Gerg but I’m going for a late Burns score to win by 2. Both teams will have targeted this match when the fixtures came out and I reckon Jersey will be ahead for much of the match. Hoping it’s a great advert for the Champ and no disciplinary issues as I expect a bit of needle!

I hope the lucky people who can actually be there are enjoying a belly-busting brunch and are settling down for a cracker. I've walked the Spaniels early and so throw my myopic analysis out there for ridicule. I think it will be a draw or either side could edge it by a few points. I expect Jersey to absolutely dominate the tight five (and amazed the home side are leaving the outstanding De Wee on the bench but its probably balanced out by Jersey holding back Bain who is a force of nature). Ealing have a clear edge in the back row and half backs and I think the threes are pretty even. Should be a great match which in all probability will hinge on discipline & referee cards. Nothing will finally be resolved until April but enjoy the day and those who are travelling tonight - safe journey.

Congratulations Ealing. Better team today. I said before that it would be decided by fine margins and that was the case. Jersey’s execution was really poor. Unfortunately the 10 had one to forget. On the other hand, the Ealing 9 and 10 were quite superb. Everything else was pretty even IMHO.
Can’t wait for revenge on Island.

Merry Christmas one and all.

Fully agree mate the Jersey lineout misfiring is the major take-away but the right team clearly won and deserved it. A try bonus for Jersey may be important in April. Safe journey back for those travelling tonight and well played Ealing.

I have to say the Reds were comprehensively beaten there. Able to execute first part of game-plan occasionally in putting oppo under pressure & forcing penalties, but unable to make any use of them via resulting lineout. Home side way more clinical, and their margin embellished by the place-kicking, with a 6/7 man up against his 1/5 counterpart. Reds Champ record v Ealing now W1 L15. Oh well, Happy Xmas all...

I think that might be the first Championship match I've watched since Christmas Eve 2016 when we beat Scottish, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Two good sides, but ultimately Ealing's defence was the difference. I know they conceded four tries, but the Jonah Holmes tackle from the interception after about 15 mins and their work to negate the Jersey maul was fantastic, plus the fact that the visitors must have enjoyed 70% of possession but struggled to get across the gain line. Great advert for the league.

It would be nice to think the Reds' BP could keep things interesting for April... but I'd be pleasantly surprised if Ealing weren't home and hosed as champs by the time of return fixture with Reds in penultimate round

1,471 is not great considering it's holiday time and the top two were slugging it out. Having said that, Ealing look like the complete package and with a few additions could hold their own in The Prem.

Lots of rugby to be played in this league this season yet Islander and I think that the Reds will be feeling that 1 and 15 is quite enough and will be keen to reduce the deficit

A Boxing Day subsequent bank holiday match would probably have seen a few hundred more. Christmas preparations over and done with for locals and better transport options for away supporters. Great result for Ealing, but an awful lot of rugby still to be played

The game was certainly closer than the score line suggests but the Jonah Holmes try saving tackle was a real clutch moment. Great game, thoroughly enjoyable experience, crowd slightly lower than expected but Xmas Eve plus with a minimal away support perhaps not a surprise.

The 1630 Heathrow flight back to Jersey (originally 1900 but then rescheduled meaning KO had to be moved) got back fine & on time. The pre-match travel (Friday lunchtime flight) went fine & don’t believe anyone’s using travel issues as an excuse… the better side won & I’d say 15-20 point margin was about right.

Their team may have lost in the end but the travelling band of Ravers certainly made some noise. I don’t know if Big Eddie was there today but if he was I hope he and the rest of the travelling support enjoyed their afternoon at Castle Park (apart from the result, obviously). Donny’s extra quality and fitness told in the last 20 minutes but Caldy never gave up and competed very well in the forwards against a very good Donny pack. 52-14 didn’t reflect the game really.

Alright, three days off posting was enough for me. I have to say that I was happy all-around with the Ealing vs. Jersey match. Two well-matched sides, in a game that was quite interesting right to the end. I thought that Jersey's pack proved that Ealing is still not strong enough in that part of their game, which makes me quite surprised that they'd allowed their best scrummaging hooker (Alun Walker) go to Newcastle on loan. I have heard that Tom West is being brought in from Wasps. The Ealing maul defense has been enormous this year - easily the most improved aspect of the team. I thought that the commentary was pretty good on the stream, and Sir was excellent throughout, very clear in his instruction and I thought he didn't miss much (maybe one Ealing knock on). I do wish that this had been a boxing-day match and not Christmas eve, though I'm in Finland in any event.
