Predictions Coventry 5 - 1 Hartpury - Coventry are absolutely flying and they will get another 5 points in this one. Ampthill 5 - 0 Richmond - My heart really wants an away win here, nothing against As but everyone will know why I’ll be rooting for Mond. However, I think the Mob are playing far too well at the moment and will win emphatically. Can Mond get a BP or Two?. Bedford 1 - 5 Ealing - This will be an absolute cracker but I think Bedford’s fortress may be breached. Bedford will hope for a dry deck but Ealing can play out wide too. Jersey 5 - 0 Nottingham - Notts have finally started showing a bit of form again but in all honesty this Reds team are different class, especially at home. Another big Red tide coming on the scoreboard. London Scottish 1 - 5 Doncaster - Yes Donny are in poor form and have a big injury list, and Scottish will have their Quins imports. However, the brutal reality is that LS have won one league game all season. It’s not like they’ve won loads of games recently, even with the influx. Donny really ought to put the home side away and I think we will. Cornish Pirates 5 - 1 Caldy - What Caldy has achieved this season is nothing short of miraculous and they’ve earned the right to play with total freedom in the last 4 games. I just wonder if fatigue could creep in for the Ravers now. I think it will be a comfortable home win. However, I think the visitors will score 4 tries. Points fest.

Coventry 5-0 Hartpury. Coventry are going strong and are looking to secure third place. I think they will bag all the points here. Ampthill 5-0 Richmond. The As are playing well and should bag all five points against a flagging Richmond side. Bedford 1-5 Ealing. This is a tricky one. I can see Bedford scoring four tries but not staying within 7 points of Ealing. A possible banana skin though for the Champions Elect. Jersey 5-0 Nottingham. Jersey to remain terrier like, snapping at Ealing's heels. L Scottish 0-5 Doncaster. Just a feeling. Pirates 5-0 Caldy. Caldy have some tough remaining fixtures and I do not think they will keep apace with the Cornish side.

Coventry 5 v 0 Hartpury … Cov playing some super rugby this season and at home I think that they will have too much for the Glos 2nds. Ampthill 5 v 0 Richmond … Mond are struggling, The Mob are on the up. If Richmond were to get their first choice team available, then it could be different, but comfortable home win here. Bedford 5 - 2 Ealing … There are some monster fixtures to be played in this seasons run in and this is the first. Bedford have not dropped a point at home all season. Ealing are going for back-back Championship titles, but which one will give way. I will have to go with my heart and pray I think, but this could be really close. Jersey 5 v 0 Nottingham … Nottingham had a good win last week, but The Reds are playing some really nice stuff at the moment. Has to be a home win for me. London Scottish 0 v Doncaster 5 … Donny had a chance to win last week and let it slip. I don’t think that they will do the same again this week. Cornish Pirates 5 v 0 Caldy … This is a long and difficult trip, but a massively fun one. I think that this will be a really entertaining game though.

Cov 5-0 Pury Home banker Ampthill 1-4 Mond The visitors to grind out a win by a handful of points Blues 0- 5 Ealing The visitors have the best squad in the league and will pick a side to win this one comfortably. Jersey 5-1 Archers Hopefully in the sunshine and in front of a raucous crowd a home win and no injuries. McQuins 4-1 Donny a must win for exiles Pirates 5 -0 Ravers Another great tour for Caldy - enjoy it lads.

Bedford 0 v 5 Ealing - this will be exciting Jersey 5 v 0 Nottingham - Reds on fire London Scottish 1 v Doncaster 5 - score depends on how many Quins play, so could be close! Coventry 5 v 0 Hartpury - Good form for Coventry, especially at home. Ampthill 5 v 0 Richmond - Bad form for Richmond, everywhere. Bedford 5 v 0 Ealing - Bonkers squad. Jersey 5 v 1 Nottingham - Jersey seem absolutely rampant at the moment. London Scottish 1 v Doncaster 5 - I still don't think London Scottish will win a game the rest of the way. Cornish Pirates 1 v 4 Caldy - Pirates have an injury list a mile long.

Ealing Trailfinders team to face Bedford Blues: Well, I am baffled by this squad, and now predict a pummelling. Dan Lan is...not good at fly half. Not much choice fiven injury, but I would have looked for anyone as injury cover, especially as there is no other flyhalf in the reserves. I would guess that Daniels is in the squad to kick. Digby has been excelllent at 8 the last few weeks, but now he is on the bench in exchange for Uzokwe, who has never been at 8 before. Biggest positive is Tizzano is back from injury. I suspect that we are going super-sized in the forwards and will look to just smash over blues. 15. Jonah Holmes 14. Luke Daniels 13. Max Bodilly 12. Pat Howard 11. Cian Kelleher 10. Dan Lancaster 9. Craig Hampson 1. Will Davis 2. Alun Walker 3. George Davis (50th Ealing Trailfinders appearance) 4. Andrew Davidson 5. Barney Maddison (C) 6. Will Montgomery 7. Adam Korczyk 8. Simon Uzokwe Replacements 16. Shaun Malton 17. James Gibbons 18. Ross Kane 19. Simon Linsell 20. Carlo Tizzano 21. Jack Digby 22. Jordan Burns 23. Reuben Bird-Tulloch

I predict Ealing will comfortably overpower Blues and bore the huge crowd at GR by mauling their way to victory. Having a third choice fly-half is an advantage as the last thing a team wants to do against Blues is play a kick & chase game to Blues back three who are really rapid and thrive on a loose open game. If Ealing have a few injuries they will use the forwards and huge midfield to win ugly - and there's nowt wrong with that. Ealing to win by 15-20 points.

Blues have 5 Saints starting - we have gone for size in the centres and Grimoldby is probably a slightly better kicker out of hand, certainly with penalties for touch. There are 3 Saints on the bench, one returning from injury. Little concerned about the bench in places, but Conway can play most if not all of the 80 mins.
Forecast is wet and it has been a wet day here which is why Ealing have gone big.

Good luck with that TB although I'm surprised Blues would even try to match Ealing up front or in the midfield however many Saints they can source. Blues have a brilliant back three and a fast open & loose game is surely their best chance. Cov beat Ealing that way but they have the squad to do it and I hope Jersey have the same strengths but surely Blues should attack from wide and deep - the supporters at GR will love it even if they lose.

I guess when I say size we have generally been Booj and Grayson this season, and Booj is just coming back from injury, but Matevasi is bigger and still a great off loader. Elliott is a bit small for this game and Grayson was playing very well earlier in the season before injury. Maisey is a better attacking fly half and maybe the hope is to bring him on later when Ealing and hopefully a little tired and the gam breaks up more.
The key will be to not give scrums away.

Good win for Cov, just 1 defeat (and a draw) in last 9. Hartpury have lost 4 on the spin, after winning 7 of the previous 8 b4 that.
I said elsewhere that Blues v Cov on last day could be a 3rd-place PO, but at this rate (with game-in-hand at Ampthill, albeit something of a bogey fixture for them), I agree with TB that Cov could be out of sight in that race (and even looking at 2nd )

Wish I could be that optimistic. Can't see Cov anywhere near second. Third would be a huge achievement given the rebuild with mainly young unknowns (no disrespect to them, but most came from lower levels, so can only be seen as shrewd signings in retrospect). Second is perhaps something to aspire to next term.

Looking at Covs remaining fixtures there are no ‘gimmes’ and, yes, Bedford have to play ET & Jers at home, but they have yet to drop a home point to date. This season has lots more to offer yet!

Blues have lost their 7 after 20 and 3 after 30 mins due to injury.
Blues go down the slope 2nd half.
Ealing have had most of the territory but the referee is missing them pre latching and putting blockers on front of the maul, although Blues have held the mauls anyway.
Blues haven’t had much ball but the defence has been pretty good.

Watched the Ampthill game on the RFU stream, haven't got to a home game all season since I moved to Pinner sadly.
They really turned the screw in the last quarter and their bench and their hard carrying just blew Richmond off the park.
But for the first hour Richmond looked the better side, they probably do not have the strength in depth to carry that into the second half when the benches turn out, Ampthill obviously do.
4 0n the trot, Ampthill look like a different team since Christmas, a top half finish may be possible

I too watched the live stream game. And it was a very welcome facility. The picture was crystal clear and the commentary was just fine. If you once lived in the Ampthill area but then moved away this is a wonderful treat. I also agree with your comments, Baggins. The game was even for the first three quarters but Ampthill showed their savvy in the last quarter, scoring two well deserved tries.
I don't yet share your view that a top six place is a possibility, but four on the trot is magnificent. Let's take it game by game, though. Ampthill's achievements have been trumped by the arrival of Caldy this season, and quite right too. Caldy deserve it. Especially as their home attendances have matched their achievement. Something that Ampthill must be envious of.
And on the subject of attendances, only 2,504 watched the Bedford v Ealing game today. I think I would be a disappointed Bedford fan for such a massive game. The ground holds at least 5,000. I thought today would be close to a sell out.

I don’t want to get bitter but that is a good result for the Championship. I like LS as a club but I don’t agree with the fact that they’re basically now a Quins A side. It doesn’t sit well with me at all. I really didn’t want us to lose today. I bet some rockets were fired from Bodes at HT because it sounds as though we really sharpened up in the second half.

5 tries in 1st half, 33-0, 2nd period more competitive with visitors having strong wind behind them. It was 2 tries apiece in 2nd 40 until Reds grabbed 1 more with last play. Whoever wins this season will well and truly deserve it. | Great post mate. The quality of rugby this season has been exceptional. Jersey have rode their luck in games and snapped at Ealing's tail all season but also on their day shown some real quality in defence and attack. Blues & Donny could both beat Jersey and make the game at St Peter on the 22nd a dead rubber but in my dreams it will be winner takes all and if the premiership teams don't want to play the winner next season it's their loss.

5 tries in 1st half, 33-0, 2nd period more competitive with visitors having strong wind behind them. It was 2 tries apiece in 2nd 40 until Reds grabbed 1 more with last play. Another big win, but some stern tests await - can you get a much tougher 15-day spell than Donny & Blues (a) followed by ET (h)? |

Watched the Ampthill game on the RFU stream, haven't got to a home game all season since I moved to Pinner sadly.
They really turned the screw in the last quarter and their bench and their hard carrying just blew Richmond off the park.
But for the first hour Richmond looked the better side, they probably do not have the strength in depth to carry that into the second half when the benches turn out, Ampthill obviously do.
4 0n the trot, Ampthill look like a different team since Christmas, a top half finish may be possible |
And on the subject of attendances, only 2,504 watched the Bedford v Ealing game today. I think I would be a disappointed Bedford fan for such a massive game. The ground holds at least 5,000. I thought today would be close to a sell out.

Easter holidays doesn’t help along with a wet forecast which didn’t materialise and I think any club in the division would take such a poor 2,500+
Season average in league is 2,842 Cup average 2,680

Cracking game at Goldington road today, very pleased with how the Blues fronted up to Ealing and 11 tries in all from 11 different players. Bedford matched Ealing up front in the lose and at scrums and mauls, we got pinged by Sir quiet a lot at scrum time, not sure all were justified, but that’s rugby. We seemed very flat in the first 20 mins of the 2nd half and Ealing scored an early try, then a yellow card to a prop at scrum time meant we went down to 13, but this seemed to wake us up. Ealing scored another and we then scored 2 before we got back to 15, one really excellent, which must be a contender for try of the season. Bedford then got another to bring it to 31-33 and Ealing seemed rattled, but like the pros they are they scored again and we just couldn’t get another to make it a grandstand finish. I think Ealing were still rattled, they played for time for the last 10 mins, and just kicked the ball out at the final whistle. The crowd gave Bedford a rousing chant for a gutsy performance, we probably deserved 2 points, but hey ho, 4th place finish looks nailed on in the league for this season.

I have to agree about the potential try of the season from Blues. My goodness, on that particular attempt there must have been six offloads, including a tap on and a behind the back pass. It was absolutely amazing, and was in no way due to poor Ealing defending, but simply sublime ball handling by Blues. Even the Ealing crowd in the corner had our jaws drop at that one.

A great advert for championship rugby, Ealing are an extremely good team and I am pleased we fronted up. Had a massive singing contest with the Ealing supporters and spoke to them after, they really enjoyed it. As for that Blues try, I don’t think in 25 years I have seen anything as spectacular as that at Goldington Road.

Caldy, as expected, wouldn't go away and kept hammering away forcing The Pirates to put in a massive defensive shift. It was tense at the end when Pirates were down to 13 men, but outstanding defence kept Caldy out and we were relieved to get the win and the 5 points. Safe journey home after their apparent nightmare 12 hour journey to Kernow yesterday.

Our best try mentioned earlier was cut in half, hopefully Blues will show it and was that a knock on by Blues (penalty and yellow) but then followed up by an Ealing knock on as they go on score the winner to put the game out of sight?

Indeed, I applaud Ealing for always includi g all teies in their highlights, but I was gutted that the sublime Blues trylight missed out the astonishing buildup.

Blues trylights are becoming pointless, whoever does them barely shows anything! They also cut it in half!
